This is clearly the place you need to be for quality thin crust NY pizza and all of the photos of celebrities on the walls can confirm that! About a 3-5 minute walk from the subway you can find John's of Bleecker right around the corner. You need to wait outside to be seated, but we waited just a few minutes before we were seated. We started with the house salad, which was nice and fresh with a great red wine vinaigrette dressing. It also came out extremely fast, like 3 minutes after we ordered (they don't mess around). Ordered the large pizza with mushrooms and half pepperoni, which was perfect for the 2 us (it is thin crust so you can easily finish a large with just 2 people). The pizza was great and so fresh, just be careful and let it cool off otherwise you will burn the top of your mouth! *Pro-Tip* I enjoy my crust with a nice crunch when you bite into it and with some char as well. So, I would definitely recommend ordering your pizza "Well-Done" so that you get the nice crunch and char (If you like it that way as well, or at least give it a try!) Overall, I loved the tomato sauce on the pizza you can taste how fresh it is and the pepperonis were the perfect size and texture. Very delicious New York pizza!

Please note that I went here in July 2023. I just forgot to post my review. John on Bleecker is a staple of NYC in for good reason. The pizza is fantastic. It's an old-school or Woodfire oven. They do a great job. Make a nice and crispy without burning it to a crisp. We went at a slow time so it wasn't really that crowded and service was very good. They immediately got us drinks and waters. We got a pizza order and fairly quickly. The pizza was delicious. Everything about it was good the bread, the cheese, and the sauce. The atmosphere is pretty cool. It's not a nice dressy sort of place but it's a much more laid back place. They were peoples names carved into the wooden tables. The cooks were laughing and joking with each other. The kitchen was very close to the customers. It was very laid-back environment and I enjoyed it a lot. I will definitely go again.

Came here on a trip to New York as a recommendation from a friend as one of the best pizza places in New York! We came on a Sunday afternoon around 1:30pm and there was a line, but it moved fast and we were seated outside within 10-15 minutes (although our friends said typically the line is much worse). There is a small amount of both indoor and outdoor seating. The pizza came out pretty fast after we sat down. Of note, you cannot get slices, only whole pizzas. We had to try the classic John's original and it did not disappoint! The dough was thin and crispy with a good amount of melted cheese and dollops of fresh tomato sauce. It is little pricey for a plain cheese 16" pizza, but definitely a good, classic NY style slice!

John's of Bleecker Street is hands down my favorite New York Style pizza! The pies are so sooo good!! Their sauce and crust are what set their pizza's apart from the rest. You can taste the freshness of the tomato and the oregano!! The crust is light, not too greasy, and has the perfect amount of crispiness. Literally good enough to eat a pie by yourself if you're hungry enough. Have came here multiple times, they do not disappoint!! Brought family to try it here too and they absolutely loved it. We've tried, The John's original, The boom pie, and a classic pepperoni and all of them did not miss on the flavor. Their calamari was just as tasty also. If you come here during dinner rush or on the weekend be prepared to wait! This place is pretty cramped inside but they do their best to accommodate everyone in a timely manner.

THEE BEST CHEEZE PIZZA I HAVE EVER EATEN! I went to this location with a colleague (local of the area), as he told me this is his go-to pizza place in the city. He was NOT wrong! We started with a Caesar salad (awesome) and a carafe of the house red. Both were great. Then we had 2 pies delivered to our table... a 16" cheese (Sasso) and a 16" sausage (Jimmy Gambino if I recall). The Gambino was good, but that regular cheese pizza - The Sasso - blew me out of the water with how good the sauce was. My other out of state colleague also kept commenting on how awesome the sauce was... he was not wrong! There was about a 30 minute wait for a table (line on the street out front) but it went quickly with conversation and people watching. The only bad for this location was the horrible booth seating. Tiny width and hard as nails. This may be part of the plan though (get people out quickly), as after about 45 minutes - my butt was in pain from sitting too long. If you like pizza and you want an authentic NY slice - you must try this restaurant. Next time I am in the city, I will definitely be back to John's!

It's hard to make gigantic claims like "best pizza in the world " but I will say I have never had a pizza that I enjoyed more than John's, and I have had dozens of top rated places across the country. I went here because of the One Bite, Pizza reviews, and after only waiting a few minutes for a table, we got a fantastic pie that we destroyed in a matter of minutes. The food is incredible, I could eat this every single day if I lived in New York, and the ambience is absolutely amazing. It feels like you are traveling back in time. What a fantastic place. I came. I saw. I devoured the pizza. I bought a hoodie and beanie. Haha. I can't wait to go again.

Very lucky to be seated right away. It was raining that day; I was not looking forward to waiting in line. I assumed there would be a line. I think we came before the dinner rush which was why we were seated quickly. The play ended around 3:45PM EST and it took us about 20 minutes to flag down a cab. A small and busy restaurant. This is a no-frills type of place. Their New York style thin crust pizza is both crispy and soft. The toppings on the meat lovers were generous. The meatballs had a springy texture and juicy. I read that they don't offer ranch, so I didn't ask for it. I love pizzas from frozen to handmade to Chicago style to New York style to Detroit style to Sicilian style, fusion... the list goes on and on and while the pizza itself doesn't need anything, I'd still prefer to have ranch to dip it in. The slight char from their coal oven gives it a mild smoky taste. It was delicious. Even the leftovers tasted delicious the next day.

9.3/10 Visited from Orange County and had dinner at John's of Bleecker Street in West Village because I had been hearing that they serve up the best New York-style pizza. Well, they weren't wrong because this is definitely some of the best New York-style pizza I've had. They sell whole pizzas only, no slices. My boyfriend and I got: 14" Whole Pizza $20.99 with Pepperoni $6 and Mushrooms $2.5. Since they're known for pizza, that's got to be my favorite thing in the menu and the only thing I've tried. Not sure how I managed to come to the East Coast so many times as a kid and as a young adult yet I had never tried New York-style pizza from the place itself, until now. They've been doing coal-fired brick oven pizza since 1929 and boy do they do it well. I usually prefer a by-the-slice joint but it really is worth it to get a whole pie or two here. From the thin-crust to the sauce to the cheese and toppings, I really can't find anything wrong with it. The thin crust struck the perfect balance between crispy and chewy, while the sauce, cheese, and toppings melded together so well. I'm glad they use flat pepperoni, my preference, over cupped pepperoni, it's just classic, at least on NY pizza. New York-style pizza is one of the best American foods. I love dipping my pizza and cornicione in good ol' ranch but sadly ranch is not a thing in the East Coast. I was in NY for less than a week so I could only fit in so much pizza but I did also get a chance to try Joe's Pizza and they make dang good pizza. John's and Joe's are very closely tied, however, they both have their own unique taste. John's is a little more fancy, only sold by the whole pie and is a sit-down; this is the best choice for if you want a whole pie, date night or sit-down type of setting. Joe's is better for a quick grab-and-go. It's objectively better than Secret Pizza but subjectively I still love Secret Pizza. Still searching in LA OC for NY pizza as good as this one. I definitely indulged this night with two and a half slices, left so full and satisfied. My boyfriend was full off three and a half slices. I didn't see anything on their website regarding eco-packaging or sustainability efforts, bummer. But they are one of the city's oldest pizza operations. It was founded by John Sasso, an alum of Lombardi's. They're located on a busy main street in West Village of Greenwich Village in Lower Manhattan. Took a subway and walked the rest of the way here. I think there's metered street parking but not sure how easy it is to find. The inside is cute, casual and old-school style, with a cozy interior and that iconic neon sign adding to the nostalgic vibe. It looks small but the inside can seat a good amount of people. They also have outside seating but I didn't see anyone sitting outside during fall. Service was friendly and efficient. I came on a Friday around 6:30 PM and waited about 20 minutes before seating. It went by fast, I was expecting a much longer wait. Food also didn't take long to come out. I wish they would come to SoCal. I think the price here is just right, you are paying for quality and you're also getting plenty of food.
